We got very messy this week in art, using all of the techniques we have learnt about, such as layering, printing, mixed media uses and more, to create one big class picture! We had a lot of fun and expressed ourselves by choosing our own patterns, colours and outcome.
We have been busy in Science, completing several experiments linked with evolution and inheritance. We made fossil sandwiches, extracted DNA from bananas, discovered which beaks are best for which food and had a camouflage race with cocktail sticks!
Year 6 have been busy learning about OS maps this half term - everything from grid references to symbols! We also learnt how we could measure distance using string and the grid references and raced to find key landmarks (including Milwards) on our digital versions!
Year 6 went through some tough job interviews for their new roles and responsibilities! They were fantastic and have been awarded a variety of roles, including House Captain, Charity Rep, School Council and School Council Chair, Digital Leader and Eco-Warrior. Well done to everyone who put themselves forward!

We really enjoyed Jeans for Genes Day, learning all about what makes us unique. We even got to make our own DNA!
As part of our art focus, we got messy creating string prints. We were so impressed with the results, take a look yourself!
We learn when we do! Oak Class have been busy learning storytelling through drama, recreating suspense stories. This, alongside studying short suspense films, has built up to writing our very own stories… they’re incredible!
Welcome to Oak Class! The children settled in well to their first half term in Year 6, already showing determination, resilience and heaps of positivity. We have written letters to our future selves, not to be opened until the last day. The children are beginning to think about their future schools and opportunities which await them, but we plan to make each and every day count in their last year of primary school. It is a privilege to take this wonderful group of learners through their final chapter at Milwards. Let’s make some memories!
